101st Infantry

101st Infantry, Second State Color. Composed of men from Allegheny, Perry, Tioga, Beaver, Lawrence, Bedford, Dauphin, Butler, Adams, Westmoreland, Union, Indiana, Juniata, and Cumberland counties, the 101st regiment organized in October 1861. On April 20, 1864, at Plymouth, NC, the entire regiment was captured, including the first state color. The flag's whereabouts are unknown. The survivors on Roanoke, joined with new recruits, were mustered out of service in June 1865. They never received the second state color.
